At present, the application of emerging information and communication technology (ICT) in the construction of intelligent civil aviation is complicated, but there is a lack of systematic research in this field in the academic circle. Therefore, it is particularly important to conduct in-depth analysis on the research hotspots and trends in this field. Based on 1052 references included by WOS core collection from 2010 to 2021, it used bibliometrics and visualized software such as CiteSpace and VOSviewer to make visualized analysis on time distribution of paper publication, co-citation and keyword clustering. From the research results, the following conclusions can be obtained. First, the number of published papers in this field shows an upward trend and it has entered a fast-growing stage since 2014. Second, there is deep integration between smart civil aviation and new information technologies like digitized big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, the Internet of Things and 5G technology. Third, the research directions currently center around the four aspects, namely smart travel, smart logistics, smart operation and smart supervision; and the future research will focus on the widespread application of new information technology including big data and artificial intelligence to civil aviation, which can accelerate the technological and connotative development of smart civil aviation.
