The Charleston Harbor model reproduced the entire tidal portions of the Ashley, Cooper, and Wando Rivers and a portion of the Atlantic Ocean. The model was of fixed-bed construction and was equipped with all the necessary appurtenances for accurate reproduction and measurement of tides, tidal currents, salinity intrusion and other significant phenomena of the prototype. This report is concerned with the hydraulic and salinity verification of the model, and contains complete data showing the degree of accuracy attained with respect to duplication in the model of previous model report and prototype data. The results of the verification tests indicate that the model hydraulic and salinity regimens were in satisfactory agreement with the previous comparable conditions. It therefore can be assumed that the model may be depended on to provide quantitative answers concerning the effects of proposed plans on the hydraulic and salinity regimens of the estuary.
