The results of three-dimensional movable-bed laboratory tests are used to empirically relate the longshore sediment transport rate to the radiation stress and the longshore energy flux factor. Both correlate easily well with the longshore transport rate, producing correlation coefficient squared values of approximately 0.70. The surf similarity parameter also shows a strong influence on the longshore transport rate.
