Sediment budget studies are of great importance in many coastal engineering projects. In general, a sediment budget is a compilation of the sources and amounts of sediment that are gained or lost in designated coastal reaches during a specific interval of time. Sediment supply for a given coastal area may be derived from several sources and may involve different means of transport.
