The present invention relates to a battery management device which can perform balancing by using a balancing resistor. According to the present invention, the battery management device comprises: a sensing unit which can be detached from a battery system, and is configured to measure voltage of a cell assembly provided in a battery pack which is electrically connected in parallel to another battery pack when mounted in the battery system; a balancing circuit unit having a balancing resistor connected in parallel to a charge and discharge path of the cell assembly and a balancing switch energizing or blocking an electrical connection between the cell assembly and the balancing resistor; and a processor operatively coupled to the sensing unit and the balancing circuit unit.

    본 발명에 따른 배터리 관리 장치는 배터리 시스템에 탈착 가능하고, 상기 배터리 시스템에 장착되면 다른 배터리 팩과 전기적으로 병렬 연결되는 배터리 팩에 구비된 셀 어셈블리의 전압을 측정하도록 구성된 센싱부; 상기 셀 어셈블리의 충방전 경로에 병렬 연결되는 밸런싱 저항 및 상기 셀 어셈블리와 상기 밸런싱 저항의 전기적 연결을 통전 또는 차단시키는 밸런싱 스위치를 구비하는 밸런싱 회로부; 및 상기 센싱부 및 상기 밸런싱 회로부와 동작 가능하게 결합된 프로세서;를 포함할 수 있다.
