The present invention relates to a system and a method for reducing pollutants in an engine, which are able to supply nitrogen, which is generated by an oxygen generator in a ballast water treatment system, into an air supply pipe, which supplies air into the engine, even without an EGR system, to make the combustion condition of the engine have only insufficient oxygen and to reduce nitrogen oxides generated by heat. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the system for reducing pollutants in an engine comprises: a fuel supply pipe which supplies fuel into the engine for propulsion; the air supply pipe which supplies air into the engine for propulsion; and the plurality of oxygen generators parallelly placed. The by-products generated by the oxygen generator are supplied to the air supply pipe to lower the combustion temperature of the engine for propulsion, thereby reducing the nitrogen oxides generated by heat (thermal NOx).

    본 발명은 EGR 시스템 없이도 엔진에 공기를 공급하는 공기 공급관에 밸러스트수 처리 시스템의 산소 발생기에 의해 발생되는 질소를 공급하여 엔진의 연소조건을 산소가 부족한 상태로 만들어서 열에 의한 질소산화물 발생을 감소시키는 엔진의 오염물질 저감 시스템 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따르면, 추진용 엔진에 연료를 공급하기 위한 연료 공급관; 상기 추진용 엔진에 공기를 공급하기 위한 공기 공급관; 및 복수개가 병렬로 배치되는 산소 발생기를 포함하되, 상기 산소 발생기에 의해 발생되는 부산물은 상기 공기 공급관에 공급되어 열에 의한 질소산화물(Thermal Nox) 발생을 감소시키도록 상기 추진용 엔진의 연소온도를 낮추는, 엔진의 오염물질 저감 시스템이 제공된다.
