Suggested are a traffic measurement method using a computer vision and a system thereof. The traffic measurement method using a computer vision suggested by the present invention includes the steps of: extracting a contour of image data obtained through a camera by using the computer vision and designating a region of interest by dividing the image data; recognizing and tracking vehicles which move in the designated region of interest by using a motion history image; and calculating traffic density according to the vehicles. Accordingly, the present invention can perform traffic measurement through an exiting CCTV or simple equipment like a web cam, etc.

    컴퓨터 비전을 사용한 교통량 측정 방법 및 시스템이 제시된다. 본 발명에서 제안하는 컴퓨터 비전을 사용한 교통량 측정 방법은 컴퓨터 비전을 이용하여 카메라를 통해 획득한 영상 데이터의 윤곽선을 추출하고, 영상 데이터를 분할하여 관심 영역을 지정하는 단계, 모션 히스토리 이미지를 이용하여 상기 지정된 관심 영역 내에서 이동하는 차량들을 인식하고 추적하는 단계, 상기 차량들에 따른 교통 밀도를 계산하는 단계를 포함한다.
