Disclosed are an apparatus for estimating a road gradient and an estimation method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for estimating a road gradient and an estimation method thereof comprises: an input part to which present acceleration information including pitching motion of a present vehicle, sensed by a sensing unit, is input when the present vehicle stops or is parked at a location having a road gradient; a calculation part which calculates an average value of a maximum value and a minimum value based on the present acceleration information including the input pitching motion of the present vehicle; an estimation part which estimates a gradient of road based on the calculated average value; and a control part which conveys a drive command to a stop operation device for stopping or a parking operation device for parking if the calculated average value is provided.

    노면 경사도 추정 장치 및 그 추정 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 실시 예에 따른 노면 경사도 추정 장치 및 그 추정 방법은 노면의 경사도가 있는 위치에 현재 차량이 정차 또는 주차할 때에, 감지 장치로부터 감지된 현재 차량의 피칭 모션(pitching motion)을 포함하는 현재 가속도 정보를 입력받는 입력부; 입력된 현재 차량의 피칭 모션을 포함하는 현재 가속도 정보를 기초로 최대값과 최소값의 평균값을 산출하는 산출부; 산출한 평균값을 기초로 노면의 경사도를 추정하는 추정부; 및 산출한 평균값을 공급받으면, 정차를 위한 정차 수행 장치 또는 주차를 위한 주차 수행 장치에 구동 명령을 전달하는 제어부를 포함한다.
