The present invention relates to a containment system (10). The containment system comprises: a first containment layer (14) which at least partially defines a first containment volume (30) and contains a thermal material; a second containment layer (16) which at least partially defines a second containment volume (22) and contains a gas collecting material (72); and a third containment layer which at least partially defines a third containment volume (24) and contains a bulletproof material, wherein the first containment layer is located on the second containment layer, and wherein the second containment layer is located on the third containment layer.
