To provide a region setting method or the like, which defines a region for transmitting visible light and a region for reflecting the visible light with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A region setting method is a method for defining a first region and a second region of a display device for irradiating image light onto an irradiated surface having a first region that emits reflection light in response to a visible laser and a second region that emits fluorescent light of a wavelength which is previously set in responce to an ultraviolet laser while being penetrated in the visible light, and includes a reference light emission/illumination lighting step S1, and a region determination processing step. The reference light emission/illumination lighting step S1 causes the display device to emit the reference light as light of a wavelength preset from a reference light source. A region determination processing step S3 causes a light detection part to detect the reference light by scanning the irradiated surface to define first and second regions on the basis of a scanning position of the detected light and light intensity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
