To provide a method for producing readily a complex having excellent dispersibility of microfibrillated vegetable fiber, a complex, a rubber composition and a tire.SOLUTION: A method for producing a complex includes a step 1 for mixing microfibrillated vegetable fiber, a cationic surfactant having cationic nitrogen and water to make a mixture 1, a step 2 for mixing the mixture 1 and an alcohol to make a mixture 2, a step 3 for mixing the mixture 2 and a plasticizer to make a mixture 3, and a step 4 for drying the mixture 3 to make a complex containing the microfibrillated vegetable fiber and the plasticizer.SELECTED DRAWING: None
