To provide a method capable of suppressing, to a possible extent, the cost of a dedicated device on the ground for accurately calculating, on a railway vehicle, a travel position of the railway vehicle.SOLUTION: An on-board device 1 mounted on a railway vehicle 3 comprises: a travel position calculation part for calculating a travel position as necessary; an image acquisition part for acquiring images along a travel line during travelling; a determination part that, upon the travel position entering a prescribed corrected interval including a prescribed correction position, starts to compare the image acquired by the image acquisition part with a reference image preliminarily set as an image along the travel line at the corrected position, and determines a timing to satisfy a prescribed image compatibility condition; and a first calibration part for calibrating the calculated position of the travel position calculation part so that a travel position at a timing affirmatively determined by the determination part becomes the corrected position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】鉄道車両の走行位置を車上において精度良く算出するための地上の専用設備に係るコストをできるかぎり抑制することを可能とする技術の提供。【解決手段】鉄道車両3に搭載される車上装置1は、走行位置を随時算出する走行位置算出部と、走行中の沿線画像を取得する画像取得部と、走行位置が所定の補正位置を含む所定の補正区間に進入した場合に、画像取得部により取得される画像と、当該補正位置における沿線画像として予め設定された参照画像と、の比較を開始して所定の画像適合条件を満たすタイミングを判定する判定部と、判定部により肯定判定されたタイミングにおける走行位置が補正位置となるように走行位置算出部の算出位置を補正する第1の補正部とを備える。【選択図】図1
