To make it easy for an occupant to understand a situation of a vehicle capable of changing a vehicle speed without depending on an operation of the occupant.SOLUTION: A drive assisting device includes: a limit speed acquisition unit (a camera 41, a navigation system 42) that acquires a predetermined limit speed FV which is a limit speed in an area where a vehicle may travel; a vehicle speed setting unit 51 that sets the predetermined limit speed FV as a target vehicle speed; and a notification unit (a display portion 61, a loudspeaker 62) that informs a vehicle occupant of information. When the predetermined limit speed FV is different from a limit speed in an area where the vehicle is currently traveling, the notification unit can send an acquired notification for notifying the vehicle occupant of the predetermined limit speed FV and a second notification for, before the vehicle speed setting unit 51 sets the target vehicle speed to the predetermined limit speed FV, notifying the vehicle occupant that the vehicle speed setting unit 51 will set the target vehicle speed to the predetermined limit speed FV.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
