To enable a simple configuration to form a crisp illumination pattern having blurring suppressed on a desired illuminated area.SOLUTION: An illumination device is configured to irradiate a diffraction optical element 130 having a plurality of element diffraction optical units 131 with coherent light; and form an illumination pattern 21 on an illuminated area 20. In each element diffraction optical unit 131, a hologram is recorded according to a following procedure. The illumination device is configured to give an angle space distribution D10 of first order diffraction intensity to be emitted from each element diffraction optical unit 131 a random phase distribution to generate a complex amplitude distribution; obtain a complex amplitude distribution on the illuminated area 20 by subjecting the generated complex amplitude distribution to an inverse Fourier transform; correct the complex amplitude distribution in accordance with a design illumination intensity distribution D00 to generate a correction complex amplitude distribution; obtain a correction complex amplitude distribution on the diffraction optical element 130 by subjecting the generated correction complex amplitude distribution to the inverse Fourier transform; substitute the correction complex amplitude distribution for an angle space distribution; and generate a substitute complex amplitude distribution. The procedure is repeated to record the finally obtained substitute complex amplitude distribution on the diffraction optical element as the hologram.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12

    【課題】簡易な構成で、所望の被照明領域上に、ボケを抑制した鮮明な照明パターンを形成する。【解決手段】複数の要素回折光学部131をもつ回折光学素子130にコヒーレント光を照射し、被照明領域20上に照明パターン21を形成する。各要素回折光学部131には、以下の手順でホログラムが記録される。各要素回折光学部131から射出する1次回折光強度の角度空間分布D10にランダムな位相分布を与えて複素振幅分布を生成し、これを逆フーリエ変換して、被照明領域20上の複素振幅分布を得る。この複素振幅分布を設計照明強度分布D00に合わせて修正して修正複素振幅分布を生成し、これをフーリエ変換して、回折光学素子130上の修正複素振幅分布を得る。この修正複素振幅分布を角度空間分布に置換して、置換複素振幅分布を生成する。この手順を繰り返し、最終的に得られた回折光学素子上の置換複素振幅分布をホログラムとして記録する。【選択図】図12
