To provide a power transmission device which is mounted with a mesh type engaging mechanism, and in which engagement (mesh) of the engaging mechanism can be surely performed.SOLUTION: A power transmission device is provided, comprising: a power splitting mechanism 2 that performs a differential action by three rotating elements; an output gear 14 to which torque from an output element is transmitted; a mesh type engaging mechanism 6 that engages or disengages two of the rotating elements of the power splitting mechanism 2; and housings 8, 9, 10 housing the power splitting mechanism 2, an output gear 14 and the mesh type engaging mechanism 6. In the power transmission device, the output gear 14 is formed in a cylindrical shape in which an inside diameter thereof is larger than an outside diameter of the power splitting mechanism 2, the power splitting mechanism 2 is disposed on an inner peripheral side of the output gear 14, and at least one rotating element engaged by the mesh type engaging mechanism 6 out of the power splitting mechanism 2 is supported by the housing 8 via a bearing 22.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
