PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling underwater vehicles and a system for controlling underwater vehicles, with which surveying work, such as water bottom probing, can be conducted safely and efficiently by deploying and operating plural underwater vehicles.SOLUTION: In controlling plural underwater vehicles 30 traveling underwater, in accordance with waterborne controlling means 20 having moving means movable in the vicinity of a water surface, the waterborne controlling means 20 is moved and controlled with the moving means 23, so that the plural underwater vehicles 30 are positioned in a control region X where the plural underwater vehicles 30 can be positioned by the waterborne controlling means 20 by utilizing sonic positioning means 24 provided on the waterborne controlling means 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
