PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respond to another vehicle that has cut in ahead of a vehicle itself during an automatic travel.SOLUTION: A vehicle control apparatus, for use in controlling a vehicle that has a rotary electric machine capable of generating power by regeneration and a battery capable of storing power generated by the regeneration, includes: creation means for creating a travel plan including a target speed of a vehicle itself until it reaches a desired spot; control means for controlling the vehicle itself so as to travel automatically on the basis of the travel plan; and detection means for detecting a preceding vehicle travelling ahead of the vehicle itself. In the case of increasing a distance between the vehicle itself and a preceding vehicle that has not been detected when creating the travel plan and that has been detected after the travel plan has been created, with a charge amount of the battery less than a given value, the control means controls the rotary electric machine, regardless of the travel plan, so that brake force derived from the regeneration is applied to the vehicle itself.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】自動走行中に自車両の前方に割り込んできた他の車両に対応する。【解決手段】車両制御装置は、回生によって発電可能な回転電機と、回生によって発電された電力を蓄電可能な蓄電装置と、を備える車両を制御する。当該車両制御装置は、自車両が所望地点に到達するまでの自車両の目標速度を含む走行計画を生成する生成手段と、走行計画に基づいて自車両が自動的に走行するように自車両を制御する制御手段と、自車両の前方を走行する先行車両を検出する検出手段と、を備える。自動走行が行われている際に走行計画の生成時には検出されず走行計画の生成後に検出された先行車両と、自車両との間の距離を広げる場合であって、蓄電装置の蓄電量が所定値未満である場合、制御手段は、走行計画にかかわらず、回生に起因する制動力が自車両に付与されるように回転電機を制御する。【選択図】図3
