PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a notification device and a notification method that can reduce the output of an amplifier, etc. and save power, and enable a user to sufficiently bodily feel the presence or absence of a notification by vibration.SOLUTION: A notification device 1 includes a speaker 6 provided to a seat, sweep signal generating means 4 for generating a detection sweep signal which can continuously change the frequency of a predetermined wave to continuously change the frequency of vibration within a frequency band in which a user can bodily feel signals with vibration by the speaker 6, vibration detection means 7 for detecting vibration output from the speaker by using a detection sweep signal, and acoustic measuring means 8 for detecting, as a sweep frequency band, a frequency band showing a signal level equal to or higher than a threshold value in the frequency characteristic of vibration. The sweep signal generating means 4 generates a resonance sweep signal by changing the frequency of the predetermined wave in the sweep frequency band. 【課題】アンプ等の低出力化および省電力化を図ると共に、ユーザが報知の有無を振動によって十分に体感することが可能な報知装置および報知方法を提供する。【解決手段】報知装置1は、座席に設けられたスピーカ6と、スピーカ6で信号を振動としてユーザに体感させることが可能な周波数帯域内で、所定波の周波数を変化させて、振動の周波数を連続的に変化させることが可能な検出用スイープ信号を生成するスイープ信号生成手段4と、検出用スイープ信号を用いてスピーカで出力された振動を検出する振動検出手段7と、振動の周波数特性において閾値以上の信号レベルを示す周波数帯域をスイープ周波数帯域として検出する音響測定手段8とを有している。スイープ信号生成手段4は、スイープ周波数帯域で所定波の周波数を変化させることによって共振用スイープ信号を生成し、スピーカ6は、共振用スイープ信号を用いて座席に振動を発生させる。【選択図】図1
