PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material which has little or no additional weight compared with a standard composite material and which has an improved electrical conductivity without detriment to the mechanical performance of the material, and also to provide a method of manufacturing the composite material having improved electrical conductivity properties and a lightning strike tolerant composite material which is convenient to manufacture, use, and repair.SOLUTION: An interleaf composite material is curable to form a panel which causes no visible damage to an inner layer after a simulated lightening strike according to a Zone 1A test specified by SAE ARP5412, and comprising: i) at least two conductive layers comprising conductive fiber reinforced materials; and ii) layers which are located between the two layers and which comprise at least one polymeric resin, the layers being formed from a composite comprising the at least one polymeric resin and conductive particles, in which the content of the conductive particles in the composite is insufficient to provide electrical conductivity for the composite.
