A manufacturing method for a far-infrared ray transmission member includes forming a far-infrared ray transmission film including one or more nickel oxide layers on a base material that transmits far-infrared rays by performing sputtering in a mixed atmosphere of an Ar gas and an oxygen gas using a mixed target of NiO and Ni, wherein a content rate of NiO in the mixed target is equal to or higher than 30 mass% and lower than 100 mass% with respect to the entire mixed target, and a volume flow rate ratio of the oxygen gas in the mixed atmosphere is equal to or higher than 1% and lower than 50% with respect to a total volume flow rate of the Ar gas and the oxygen gas.
