The invention relates to a novel method for reducing the thickness of a lockstitch block, which comprises the following steps of: checking the lockstitch block with proper size and the interior of a vacuum bag, and putting the lockstitch block which is confirmed to be correct into the vacuum bag to ensure that the lockstitch block completely enters the vacuum bag; sealing the opening of the vacuum bag, and repeatedly pressing with hands to ensure that the vacuum bag is completely sealed; vacuumizing operation is conducted on the vacuum bag, the state of the vacuum bag is observed during vacuumizing operation, when the size of the vacuum bag is not obviously reduced any more, vacuumizing operation is stopped, the flat seam block is taken out, the size condition of the flat seam block is observed, and if the thickness of the flat seam block is reduced to the size needed by installation after vacuumizing operation, the flat seam block can be installed; and if the thickness of the flat seam block does not meet the installation requirement after vacuumizing operation, the steps need to be repeated. The vacuum bag is small in size, light in weight and capable of being moved easily, meets all-position construction of the installation platform, provides construction flexibility, can quickly reduce the thickness of the flat joint block, and improves the installation efficiency of the flat joint block.
