The invention relates to a propeller for driving a watercraft, comprising propeller blades (2, 6, 9, 15) and a metal hub (1, 7, 8, 14, 31) for connecting to a marine propeller shaft, and to a method for producing the propeller. The propeller blades are made of polyamide 12C or a composite material composed of polyamide 12C and long fiber and/or short fiber inlays. Propeller blades or components of propeller blades are fitted at the hub, or the propeller entirety consists of polyamide 12C or of a composite material of polyamide 12C with long and/or short fiber inlays and of a hub cast over PA 12C. As a result, improved propulsion power and reduced acoustic characteristics compared to a metal propeller can be achieved.
