The invention relates to a method and a device for detecting the position and the speed of a railway vehicle, and the device comprises one or more cameras which are installed on a train, have a high capture rate and a high resolution, and are used for carrying out the image shooting of a track and passive elements on the track; the optical processor is connected with the one or more cameras, is based on the artificial intelligence technology and the deep neural network and is used for determining the speed and the position of the train, preferably a signal detector, a character reader and an optical flow meter; the screen is used for displaying the processed information; and the communication module is used for sending the data to a screen and/or other remote equipment of a rail transit control center.
