An electric vehicle power supply equipment (EVSE) charging station for charging a propulsion battery pack of an electric vehicle (EV) includes a charging cabinet, a power cable, and a charging coupler. The charging station is operable to provide a charging voltage or current to the battery pack during a charging operation. The power cable has a distal end connected to the charging cabinet. The charging coupler is connected to a proximal end of the power cable and to a charging socket of the EV. The charging coupler includes at least one heating element connected to the charging coupler. The heating element is configured to selectively heat the charging coupler in response to the environmental condition indicating accumulated snow or ice on the charging coupler.
