A vessel having a carrier with heave motion compensation to support an object to be unloaded by another vessel or an unloading device of an offshore structure. The carrier is supported on the hull of the vessel by means of a heave motion compensation support system. The system includes a hydraulic cylinder, a hydraulic power unit connected to a rod side chamber, a media separator having a hydraulic side chamber connected to a piston side chamber of the hydraulic cylinder, and a compressed gas tank set. The compressed gas tank set includes a high pressure tank and a low pressure tank, each of which may be selectively connected to a gas side chamber of the media separator via a respective gas tank valve.
