A system and method for controlling charging of a vehicle, the system including: a vehicle that determines whether a residual energy travelable distance changes based on charging, and transmits a charging station failure report message upon deriving that the residual energy travelable distance does not change; and a server receiving the charging station failure report message, changing status information of the charging station reported with the failure, and notifying that the charging station reported with the failure is unavailable.
