In one aspect, a crosslinked cable for charging an electric vehicle (EV) is provided. The crosslinked cable includes a wire, first and second charging plugs, a sensor, and a controller. The wire includes a power conductor and a communication line. The first charging plug and the second charging plug are electrically coupled to opposite ends of the wire. The sensor is configured to measure a voltage of the power conductor and a current carried by the power conductor. The controller is configured to determine whether the first and second charging plugs have been electrically connected to a first charging port of a power source and a second charging port of an EV, respectively. The controller is further configured to initiate a charging session from the power source to the EV, and calculate energy delivered from the power source to the EV in the charging session based on the voltage and the current.
