The present disclosure provides a system and method for preparing an electrically powered vehicle to transfer energy. Systems and methods for preparing a motorized vehicle to transfer energy to other structures are disclosed. Weather-related data and/or grid-related data may be utilized to predict the likelihood of a power failure condition of a grid power supply. When a power outage condition is predicted to be possible, once an actual power outage condition occurs, the motorized vehicle may automatically enter a ready state to transfer power to the structure without any time delay. Entering a ready state may include steps such as waking up an electrified vehicle, initiating communication with an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), completing a vehicle pre-check, pre-charging certain power transfer system components, and the like.
