The invention discloses a range-extended electric vehicle starting system and a control method. The range-extended electric vehicle starting system comprises a range extender engine, an engine starter, a range extender automatic clutch, a range extender generator, a generator controller, a high-voltage power battery, a range extender controller, a whole vehicle controller and a low-voltage starting power source. The high-voltage power battery is connected with the generator controller and the range extender generator through the high-voltage wire harness; the engine starter, the range extender engine, the range extender automatic clutch and the range extender generator are connected through mechanical transmission; the engine starter and the range extender automatic clutch are connected with the low-voltage starting power supply through a wire harness, and the low-voltage starting power supply provides working power; the vehicle control unit, the range extender controller and the generator controller are connected through control signals, and the vehicle control unit is connected with the engine starter and the range extender automatic clutch through control signals. And when the vehicle control unit judges that the environment is low temperature, the vehicle control unit controls the range extender automatic clutch to be separated, connection between the range extender engine and the range extender generator is disconnected, and the range extender controller controls the engine starter to drive the range extender engine to complete starting.
