The invention provides a riding detection device and method.A human body induction module is arranged on the inner side of a wind shield of a bicycle and used for detecting a human body in a pedal area of the bicycle; the pressure sensing module is arranged at a rear damping part of the bicycle; the processing unit is connected with the human body induction module and the pressure sensing module and used for detecting the number of people borne by the bicycle based on the human body induction signal output by the human body induction module and the pressure signal output by the pressure sensing module. According to the device and method, the human body in the pedal area of the bicycle is detected through the human body induction module arranged on the inner side of the wind shield of the bicycle. And the pressure sensing module is arranged at the rear shock absorption part of the bicycle, so that the detection of the number of people borne by the cushion and the rear armrest is realized. And the processing unit detects the number of people carrying the bicycle based on the human body induction signal and the pressure signal, so that a more comprehensive and accurate riding detection result is obtained, and particularly, the detection result of the number of people carrying the bicycle is more ideal.
