The invention belongs to the technical field of dual-mode co-mass space propulsion, and particularly relates to a magnesium hydride hydrogen and magnesium release system for a dual-mode co-mass space propulsion system, which comprises a nuclear power propeller, a magnesium hydride storage tank, a nuclear reactor and a nuclear heat propeller. The high-temperature heat of a nuclear reactor is utilized, the temperature of He gas is controlled to heat a magnesium hydride storage tank, magnesium hydride is pyrolyzed into hydrogen and magnesium, and hydrogen is provided for a nuclear heat propeller; after hydrogen desorption of the magnesium hydride storage tank is basically completed, residual hydrogen in the magnesium hydride storage tank is completely emptied through the hydrogen discharging valve, magnesium in the magnesium hydride storage tank is melted through heating of He gas, controllable release of liquid magnesium is achieved through the surface tension effect of the liquid magnesium, and the liquid magnesium is provided for the nuclear power propeller. Therefore, controlled hydrogen release and magnesium release of the magnesium hydride hydrogen and magnesium release system are realized, and application of the nuclear power and nuclear heat dual-mode co-mass propulsion system of the spacecraft is realized.
