The invention relates to a method for influencing a stiffness characteristic of a vehicle structural component (10) of a vehicle (12), in particular a motor vehicle, the vehicle (12) comprising a steering system (14) having at least one wheel steering angle adjuster (16, 18) for changing a wheel steering angle of at least one vehicle wheel (20, 22), a chassis characteristic variable of the vehicle (12) is designed and/or adapted in such a way that a stiffness of the vehicle component (10) is reduced, and wherein the wheel steering angle adjuster (16, 18) is actuated in at least one driving operating state in order to pertinently influence a stiffness characteristic of the vehicle component (10) in such a way that the wheel steering angle adjuster (16, 18) is actuated in at least one driving operating state in order to pertinently influence the stiffness characteristic of the vehicle component (10). In this way, changes in the stiffness of the vehicle component (10) due to the design and/or adaptation of the chassis characteristic variable are balanced in dependence on the driving situation.
