Disclosed is a sheet metal substrate for use in an elevator wherein the substrate is made of a sheet metal of small thickness by a special flanging process without impairing its structural integrity. The substrate is constructed from a single sheet metal and incorporates a top head and a bottom head to form an integral component. Such a configuration enables the head to be positioned in any manner, thus having rotational symmetry, which makes installation easier. This is achieved by a first 90 DEG bend (1a), followed by a second 90 DEG bend (1b), a third 90 DEG bend (1c) and a fourth 180 DEG fold (1d) of the open edge formed after the third 90 DEG bend (1c), by four special bends of the substrate on all the edges of the top and bottom sides.
