The invention provides a driver state determination method and device and an automobile, and relates to the technical field of vehicle monitoring. The method comprises the steps that an automobile obtains image information in the automobile; the automobile detects whether a driver is located in a driver seat based on image information in the automobile. If the driver is located on the driver seat, the automobile obtains state information of the automobile and detects whether a steering wheel is rotated or not; if the state information of the automobile is in the starting state and the steering wheel is rotated, the state of the heart rate sensor is set to be in the collecting state through the automobile, and heart rate data of the driver are collected through the heart rate sensor. If the heart rate data of the driver is within the target heart rate range and whether the face information comprises preset information or not, the automobile generates first prompt information. And the automobile sends first prompt information. In this way, redundancy of the collected data can be avoided when the driver is monitored.
