The invention provides a broken wire detecting and repairing device and method for a vertical shaft hoisting cage guide rope, the broken wire detecting and repairing device comprises a ground device and a shaft robot, the shaft robot is arranged in a coal mine vertical shaft hoisting system, and the ground device comprises a remote monitoring station and a wellhead centralized control station. The well mouth centralized control station is arranged on the edge of a well mouth, the shaft robot is provided with an oil injection robot hand module electrically connected with the well mouth centralized control station, the oil injection robot hand module is electrically connected with a broken wire detection module, and the shaft robot is in contact connection with the cage guide rope through the oil injection robot hand module. In the moving process of the shaft robot, rope diameter detection, broken wire detection, abrasion detection and oil injection are conducted on the cage guide rope through the broken wire detection module. Through the combined action of the remote monitoring station, the wellhead centralized control station and the shaft robot, the maintenance work below the cage guide steel wire rope is completed instead of personnel, the personnel safety is guaranteed, and the operation efficiency is improved.
