The invention relates to a foreign matter detection device and method, and the device comprises a first detection unit which comprises a plurality of first coils, each first coil is used for outputting a corresponding first induction electric signal according to an excitation magnetic field provided by a transmitting coil, each first coil is disposed in a coupling range of the transmitting coil, and each first induction electric signal is used for outputting a corresponding second induction electric signal according to the excitation magnetic field provided by the transmitting coil; the first coils are arranged in parallel with the transmitting coil, the first coils are symmetrical relative to a first center line of the transmitting coil, the first coils are arranged in an array mode in the direction of the first center line, and the direction of the first center line is perpendicular to the magnetic field direction of the transmitting coil; and the control module is connected with the first detection unit, and the control module is used for judging whether foreign matters exist in the coupling range of the transmitting coil or not according to the first induction electric signals. Foreign matter judgment is carried out based on the first induction electric signal generated by the single first coil, and the foreign matter detection sensitivity and reliability can be effectively improved.
