An improved new energy automobile steering system comprises a steering wheel, a steering rod is connected to the lower portion of the steering wheel, and the steering rod is connected with a steering gear through a universal joint. A physiological state sensor is arranged on a holding ring of the steering wheel. The steering gear comprises a connecting shaft, a first transmission mechanism, a second transmission mechanism and a steering shaft. The first transmission mechanism is connected with the connecting shaft through the first clutch mechanism and the steering shaft, and the second transmission mechanism is connected with the connecting shaft through the second clutch mechanism and the steering shaft. The transmission ratio of the first transmission mechanism is larger than that of the second transmission mechanism. The first clutch mechanism and the second clutch mechanism each comprise a clutch control piece, and the clutch control pieces and the physiological state sensor are connected with a control system of the automobile. Compared with the prior art, the steering system can conduct sensitivity switching according to the road condition, the driver state and other influence factors, and the situation that a driver turns a steering wheel at an overlarge angle, and consequently a vehicle suddenly turns and rolls over is avoided.
