The gear meshing adjusting device is used for adjusting the meshing clearance of a first gear and a second gear, an outer gear ring of the first gear and an inner gear ring of the second gear are meshed and located below a first flat plate and a second flat plate, and the first gear is connected with one end of a rotating shaft to receive driving of the rotating shaft to rotate. The rotating shaft penetrates through the first flat plate and the second flat plate and is fixedly connected with the first flat plate. The multiple fixing blocks are arranged on the second flat plate and distributed along the peripheral face of the first flat plate. The pressing weights are arranged above the fixing blocks respectively and comprise pressing plates used for pressing the first flat plate downwards. The first connecting piece is adjustably connected with the pressing weight and the fixing block and is used for transmitting downward pressure to the pressing plate so as to press the first flat plate and limit the movement of the first flat plate; the movement amount of the first flat plate is adjusted by adjusting the fastening force of the first connecting piece, and then the rotating shaft and the first gear are driven to move so as to adjust the meshing degree between the first gear and the second gear. The invention further provides a gear meshing adjusting method.
