The flow battery system comprises one or more galvanic piles, wherein each galvanic pile comprises a positive electrode chamber, a separator and a negative electrode chamber; a positive electrode electrolyte storage device; a negative electrolyte storage device; the positive electrode circulation pipeline is connected with the electric pile positive electrode chamber and the positive electrode electrolyte storage device; the negative electrode circulation pipeline is connected with the electric pile negative electrode chamber and the negative electrode electrolyte storage device; wherein the total volume of the positive electrode chambers of one or more galvanic piles is V1, and the total volume of the negative electrode chambers of one or more galvanic piles is V2; the volume of the positive electrode electrolyte storage device is Va, the volume of the negative electrode electrolyte storage device is Vb, the volume of the positive electrode circulation pipeline is VLa, and the volume of the negative electrode circulation pipeline is VLb, so that the following relations exist: Va is greater than or equal to 0, and Vb is greater than or equal to 0; va + VLa < = 5V1; vb + VLb < = 5V2.
