本发明涉及一种步行辅助系统。判别由摄像机获取到的图像中的、包含信号器的图像区域,提取该判别出的包含信号器的图像区域,并且进行该提取出的图像区域的放大处理,由此判断信号器的状态是红灯和绿灯中的哪一个,并且以信号器的状态从红灯切换为绿灯为条件,向行人进行穿越的开始通知。由此,即使是来自一台摄像机的图像信息,也能充分地提高信号器的识别精度。其结果是,能在不导致系统的构成的复杂化、系统的重量增大的情况下适当地进行穿越开始通知。
