The invention relates to the technical field of automobile retarders, in particular to an unloading system and a pump type retarder. The invention provides an unloading system used for a pump type retarder. The pump type retarder comprises a main body and a rotor, a working cavity is formed in the main body, and the rotor is arranged in the working cavity and divides the working cavity into a high-pressure area and a low-pressure area. The unloading system comprises a variable pump, an unloading valve, a first control valve, a second control valve, a third control valve, a first flow channel, a second flow channel, a third flow channel and an oil storage cavity. The variable pump is arranged in the groove of the main body, space is saved, the first flow channel is communicated with the oil hole and the oil storage cavity, and the first control valve, the variable pump and the second control valve are sequentially arranged on the first flow channel; the second flow channel communicates with the atmosphere and the air hole. The third control valve and the second control valve are sequentially arranged on the second flow channel. The third flow channel communicates with the oil storage cavity and the first control valve. The unloading system is arranged and is rapid in response and accurate in control, and meanwhile closed-loop control is formed, so that relatively rapid unloading response speed and accurate unloading can be achieved.
