The invention discloses a fault detection device of an of added elevator, which comprises an elevator car body and a steel wire rope, wherein the two ends of the elevator car body are fixedly connected with two sliding ways used for being in limiting sliding connection with an elevator hoistway, the upper surface of the elevator car body is fixedly connected with two supporting plates, the opposite surfaces of the two supporting plates are connected with rotating rods in a fixed-axis rotating mode, a disc wheel is fixedly connected to the arc-shaped contour of the rotating rod and fixedly connected with a power system through the steel wire rope, a detection mechanism used for detecting faults of the elevator car body is arranged on the disc wheel, a supporting frame is fixedly connected to the arc-shaped contour of the rotating rod, a preliminary braking mechanism used for limiting the speed of the elevator car body and braking the elevator car body is arranged on the supporting frame, and the supporting plate is provided with a secondary braking mechanism used for locking the steel wire rope.
