The invention belongs to the technical field of driving systems of gantry cranes, and particularly relates to an oil-electricity hybrid power system of a gantry crane and a driving method. The oil-electricity hybrid power system comprises a left supporting foot, a right supporting foot, a cross beam, an engine, a motor and a planet wheel; power of an oil way engine is transmitted to the planet wheel through a sun wheel, power of a circuit is also transmitted to the planet wheel through cooperation of a first straight tooth gear and a gear ring, combination of two strands of power of the oil way and the circuit is achieved, and hybrid power is formed; then the hybrid power is transmitted to a first transmission shaft through a planetary turntable; and then, the hybrid power is transmitted to wheels, a sliding block and a lifting rope of the gantry crane, and overall movement of the gantry crane, left-right translation of a lifting hook and up-down movement of the lifting hook are achieved. The oil way power and the circuit power are combined to generate the hybrid power, so that the gantry crane can work stably and efficiently, oil consumption and waste gas emission can be reduced, pollution to the environment is reduced, and great help is provided for protecting the environment.
