The invention discloses composite insulator defect detection equipment and method, and an unmanned aerial vehicle, and relates to the technical field of composite insulator defect detection. The composite insulator defect detection equipment provided by the embodiment of the invention comprises a microwave emission device, an infrared imaging device and a detection device. The microwave emission device is used for emitting a microwave signal to a composite insulator so as to heat the composite insulator; the infrared imaging device is used for acquiring an infrared thermal distribution image of the composite insulator; and the detection device is used for judging whether the composite insulator has a rotten defect or not according to the infrared thermal distribution image. According to the invention, the composite insulator is heated through microwaves so that a temperature difference is generated between a defective part and a normal part in the composite insulator, the composite insulator with defects inside can be effectively detected, and the positions of the defects can be determined.
