A control device has a control unit that activates in response to an input into a prescribed input terminal; a communication terminal which is connected with a communication line and is used for communicating with an external device; and a control circuit provided between the input terminal and the communication terminal. The control circuit is capable of shifting the control unit from a first operation mode to a second operation mode in which the power consumption is lower than that in the first operation mode, when the logical level of a signal inputted into the communication terminal is maintained at a high level or maintained at a low level.
