Disclosed is a periphery monitoring device that can easily recognize display of an area no matter whether there is movement of a destination area surrounding a vehicle so that the condition around thevehicle is easily recognized. According to the embodiment, the periphery monitoring device includes: an acquisition unit configured to acquire a captured image from an imaging unit that captures an image of a periphery of a vehicle and positional information regarding an attention area set around the vehicle; and a controller configured to superimpose and display an own vehicle image showing a position of the vehicle and an indicator indicating a position of the attention area based on the positional information on a peripheral image as a bird's-eye view image based on the captured image, andto perform display such that a display mode of the indicator changes over time.

    本发明提供了周边监视装置,其能够进行不管在车辆的周围应该注目的区域的移动的有无,而更容易识别该区域的显示,使车辆周边的状况变得容易识别。实施方式的周边监视装置具备:获取部,获取来自拍摄车辆的周边的拍摄部的拍摄图像、和在车辆的周围设定的注目区域相关的位置信息;以及控制部,使表示车辆的位置的本车图像、和基于位置信息的示意注目区域的位置的指标重叠显示于基于拍摄图像的俯视的周边图像,并显示为指标的显示方式随着时间经过而变化。
