The invention relates to an electric vehicle charging device and method, and the device comprises a charging gun which is used for charging a vehicle, a vehicle charging interface position acquisitionmodule used for acquiring the position of a vehicle charging interface, an electromagnetic adsorption device located at a charging port of the charging gun and used for generating electromagnetic adsorption force to enable the charging gun to be connected with the vehicle charging interface, a first permanent magnet arranged on the inner wall of the vehicle charging interface, a mechanical arm fixedly connected with the charging gun and used for adjusting the position of the charging gun, and a controller used for calculating the relative position of the vehicle charging interface and the charging gun according to the position of the vehicle charging interface and the current position of the charging gun and controlling the mechanical arm to align the charging gun to the vehicle charginginterface according to the relative position, and also used for controlling the electromagnetic adsorption device to generate electromagnetic adsorption force to mechanically connect the charging gunwith the vehicle charging interface. According to the invention, the requirement on the precision of the mechanical arm is reduced, so that the cost of the charging device is reduced.
