The traffic light system can receive the congestion degree parameter sent by the terminal of the traffic control center, the congestion degree parameter represents the vehicle congestion degree of the road in unit time, the traffic light mode is determined according to the congestion degree parameter, and the traffic light is controlled based on the traffic light mode. In the mode, the traffic light system can select the traffic light mode according to the congestion degree parameters, so that the green light time of the road in the congestion direction is prolonged, the green light time of the road in the unblocked direction is shortened, road condition congestion can be effectively relieved, and traffic pressure is relieved.
