The invention relates to a method for reducing emissions in a vehicle having a combustion motor, the method comprises the following steps: acquiring data related to the road section, wherein the route-related data at least partially comprises data relating to an expected required drive power of the combustion motor on a predetermined travel route; and controlling the combustion motor to heat an exhaust gas after-treatment system of the combustion motor during or before driving on the predetermined driving road section according to the acquired data related to the road section.
