The embodiment of the invention discloses a cable climbing robot. The cable climbing robot is used for reducing damage of the cable climbing robot to the surface of a cable and improving the detectionefficiency of the cable climbing robot. An embodiment of the present application comprises: a main body frame (100); a duct thruster (200) which surrounds the main body frame (100) and is mounted onthe outer side of the main body frame (100); an enclasping unit (300) which comprises an enclasping motor (301), an enclasping transmission component (302) and an enclasping piece (303), wherein the enclasping motor (301) is fixedly installed on the main body frame (100), and the enclasping motor (301) drives the enclasping piece (303) through the enclasping transmission component (302) so that the enclasping piece (303) enclasps the cable (900); and a control module (400) which is installed on the main machine frame (100), wherein the control module (400) is electrically connected with the duct thruster (200) and the enclasping motor (301) and used for controlling work of the duct thruster (200) and the enclasping motor (301).
